Projects: Resource concerns are rapidly changing in Western Riverside County, chief of which is the Riverside County Integrated Project planning process being carried on in the face of extremely rapid urbanization.
Natural resources, particularly watersheds and wildlife, are being adversely impacted to an unprecedented and marked degree.
EMA/RCD has no public funding and few other sources of cash, and has to tightly focus their activities to a limited number of objectives each year. current objectives are:
1. To actively monitor urban development in our area, and to insert the District into the process where protection and good management of natural resources are required;
2. To continue a program of public outreach and education, including to officials of local government, to bring together the several issues and problems surrounding natural resources in the District, recognizing the utility of a watershed approach to their analysis and solution;
3. To continue to serve on the local government committees on which we currently participate: Riverside County NPDES Advisory Committee, Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board, San Jacinto Riverlake Elsinore TMDL Monitoring Committee, City of Murrieta Lines D and E Drainages Advisory Committee, Santa Margarita Watershed Weed Abatement Area Committee (with Mission RCD and San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board, Riverside County (RCIP) Multi-Species Habitat Conservation Plan Advisory Committee;
4. To continue working with citizen groups, individuals, and other agencies;
5. To continue to explore more fully our existing MOUs of cooperation with other entities, particularly our neighboring RCDs, Mission and San Jacinto Basin.
